Normative definition

A subject-matter specialist whose principal contribution is knowledge, reputation, community, and judgment; the ECC selects products and sources, forms and adapts assortments, improves product records, provides guidance, understands the relevant demand and pricing environment, and may generate demand without investing in owned inventory or becoming an independent seller in the base model.

An ECC contributes knowledge, reputation, community, and judgment without investing in owned inventory or building independent commerce infrastructure. The ECC uses PRISM infrastructure for the retail transaction, payments, procurement, compliance, fulfillment, delivery, returns, and claims.

An ECC does not become an independent seller merely by managing assortment, permitted price positioning, product content, customer guidance, or demand generation.
