Normative definition
Order-linked sourcing and purchase from an external inventory source after the triggering paid customer order.
From the canonical source
On-Demand Sourcing / Procurement is the order-linked process through which the platform selects and purchases the relevant product from an external inventory source after the triggering customer order has been paid.
The source may change between offer presentation and procurement. The implementation therefore requires controls for availability, price movement, substitution policy, cancellation, refunds, traceability, and customer communication. This specification does not prescribe the implementation-specific controls.
